What is your performance schedule?
We perform a smaller Christmas show in December and a full production in at the end of the year.
How do you choose the plays to be performed?
The students read a variety of plays and together, the group selects the play.
What if you participate in other extracurricular activities like sports, are you required to participate in both the fall and the spring drama sessions?
No. Due to sports conflicts, some students opt to participate in only one session. Of course, you may participate in drama all year if you would like, but it is not a requirement.
What kinds of things do you study in class?
I emphasize building trust, self-confidence, and working together as a team. We learn how to listen both to our instincts and to each other through various exercises, games, and improvisations. We also study different genres of theatre (i.e. American Realism, Shakespeare, etc.) Good material allows students to experience the fun of working together toward a common goal.
What if you want to be in Drama, but do not want to perform in a show?
There are plenty of opportunities to participate “behind the scenes.” These are valuable positions of leadership where students can also let their creativity shine!
