FAQ’s

How does this program differ from Musical Theatre?

Theatre Workshop (TW) will have a deeper focus on developing the skills that are necessary to become an engaging and believable performer. “Everyone can act, everyone can improvise. Anyone who wishes to can play in the theatre and learn to become ‘stageworthy’.” (Viola Spolin, creator of“Theatre Games”).

What will happen in a typical session?

The emphasis will be on how to use the body and voice expressively, “ownership of self-expression”. We will warm up vocally,(to express clear choices of character and emotion)  and physically, learning to recognize spatial relationships, tempo, energy, balance, and texture.  Students will develop real or imaginary characters, and learn to develop the elements of a scene (setting, change, conflict, character needs).

Will there be a final performance for parents/students to attend?

Yes, we are planning a Christmas production! Several titles are being considered, stay tuned! The most important consideration will be choosing a piece that showcases everyone’s talents!

What is the fee for this program?

The tuition for the year is $200, but no one will be turned away if there are financial issues.

Will there be an opportunity for parent volunteers?

Absolutely! I look forward to collaborating with parents, you are a rich resource!
