To have a child baptized at St. Paul’s, the parent(s) must be registered in the parish and regularly attend Sunday Mass. We ask that the parent(s) attend a baptismal preparation class prior to scheduling a baptism date for the child/children.

The Baptism Preparation Class is offered the 1st Wednesday of the month (Except for October 2009 -- the class is Oct. 14th) , from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Church Classroom. At the end of the class, the parent(s) will receive a sheet entitled "Data for Baptismal Registry," which they are to complete and present to the deacon or priest baptizing the child(ren).

Every child must have at least one godparent, someone other than the parents. The person chosen must be a fully initiated Catholic (already received Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist), be in good standing with the church, 17 years of age or older, and who intends to have an ongoing spiritual relationship with the child. Many cultures choose more than one godparent. If you have any specific questions about godparent(s) or our Baptism policy, please call the parish office.

Baptisms are celebrated on several Sundays of every month at 2:00 p.m., and at one of the regular Sunday Masses each month. The schedule of these opportunities is on the back of the policy sheet that parents receive at the preparation class. (Baptisms during Mass are limited to three children per Mass). We do not celebrate baptisms during the liturgical season of Lent.

To schedule a baptism after completing the Baptism Preparation Class, please call the parish office at (310) 474-1527.
