From the desk of Sister Stella, Principal:

Peter came and said to Jesus, “Lord, if a brother or sister sins against me,
How often should I forgive? As many as seven times?”
Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times.”
~ Matthew 18: 21-22

From the Desk of Sr. Stella Maria, Principal:

Lenten Reflection

“Christ, the peacemaker, comes to show us how to reconcile ourselves to God, to each other, to ourselves, and to all the forces in creation. Reconciling the estranged is Christ’s mission. He does it by showing that we all have the common source, the Father, and that we are all one in that same Father. We, Christ’s companions, inherit that same mission from God. Community can be built only if persons share a common vision in which everyone maintains a common good. That common good in manifested differently according to different gifts, but underlying these differences is the same spirit and a common vocation… The path of the peacemaker leads to the broken and hard places of our own life, community, and world. We stand in those places, simply and humbly, as open doors, in our poverty of spirit. As doors open, we allow the mercy of God to enter the world, and allow the pain of the world to pass through us to be held by that transforming love of God.”

Financial Aid Packets for 2010-2011

Financial Aid packets for next school year are available in the front office. If you have need for tuition assistance next year, this is the first step. The packets contain the financial aid form that must be filled out and mailed to the attached address no later than May 1st.

The Financial Aid committee meets in July and determines what awards will be given with the funds available. People receiving awards must be parishioners of St. Paul the Apostle Church and have attended St. Paul’s school for at least one year. Award notification is made directly by the committee.

Awards are within the range of up to one-half. Full awards are very rare and must be due to extreme circumstances. The balance of the tuition due must be paid through FACTs Tuition Company. Unless excused - in writing - by Sr. Stella or Fr. John, if the remaining tuition is not paid, the family will not be allowed to apply for aid again.

Weekly Readings:

March 14, 2010
Fourth Sunday of Lent

Reading I
Jos 5: 9a, 10-12

The LORD said to Joshua,
“Today I have removed the reproach of Egypt from you.”

While the Israelites were encamped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho,
they celebrated the Passover o
n the evening of the fourteenth of the month.
On the day after the Passover,
they ate of the produce of the land
in the form of unleavened cakes and parched grain.
On that same day after the Passover,
on which they ate of the produce of the land, the manna ceased.
No longer was there manna for the Israelites,
who that year ate of the yield of the land of Canaan.

Gospel
Lk 15: 1-3,11-32

Tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus,
but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying,
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
So to them Jesus addressed this parable:
“A man had two sons, and the younger son said to his father,
‘Father give me the share of your estate that should come to me.’
So the father divided the property between them.
After a few days, the younger son collected all his belongings
and set off to a distant country
where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation.
When he had freely spent everything,
a severe famine struck that country,
and he found himself in dire need.
So he hired himself out to one of the local citizens
who sent him to his farm to tend the swine.
And he longed to eat his fill of the pods on which the swine fed,
but nobody gave him any.
Coming to his senses he thought,
‘How many of my father’s hired workers
have more than enough food to eat,
but here am I, dying from hunger.
