UnUrban Theology is a forum for Catholics and non-Catholics to come together to discuss issues in theology, morality and social justice in the context Catholic teaching.
Based on Isaac Hecker’s model of taking the word into the public square we took it to a funky little Santa Monica coffee shop. The owner, Pam Stollings, started the UnUrban Coffee House with her winnings from an appearance on the ‘Price is Right’ and offered her room to us as long as our motivation is love.
Our goal is to take on issues that are provocative and necessary to the on-going conversation of the relevance of faith in daily life.
One of the hopes for UnUrban is that it challenges Catholics and others to take a new and honest look at church teaching, argue for it or against it in order to move into deeper understanding of what the church has to offer.
Using a format of presentation and discussion the audience becomes active participants in their faith. You might not always agree with the speaker. This is the place to voice what you believe and enter into dialogue so everyone can grow from the wisdom and experience of each other.
UnUrban Theology meets the first Monday of the month (October to June) from 7:30pm-9:00pm at:
The UnUrban Coffee House, 3301 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405
